0. Um.. okay?
Already signed up for YB pages on previous post. But I would really like to do the Young Life club since you know, I kind of started it and it is my last year.
Current events- I also already did this on the previous post.
Letter:
Dear Random Person Interested in Buying a Calender,
Thank you for your interest! There are many calenders available and in stock. They are (I don't know the price so I'll make up one) $15.00 each. Your support will go towards the Yearbook program at WAIS. We appreciate it, as you know, yearbooks are very important to the student body! If you send in your money then we will be sure to deliver your calender to your child as soon as possible.
Again, Thank you very much!

Well, since they already happened I can't really do anything. I didn't attend homecoming because I was out of town and I didn't pay much attention to the pep rally although seniors did win the spirit stick!
The yearbook pages I would like to do in order are:
1. YOUNG LIFE.
2. Senior Ads
3. Faculty and Staff
4. Yearbook Staff
5. Wyld life Club
6. Commercial Ads
EXAMPLE OF WRITING FOR PEP RALLY:
Pep rallies are quite different at WAIS. We lack some things like sports, but we still carry plenty of spirit! So what happens when you walk into one? Well, you might want to buy some earplugs. We certainly have some loud people at our school who definitely love their school. You'll most likely see the Westchester Academy Wildcats dance, like seen below. They are extremely talented and after you see them you might even want to see one of there shows. and blah.. blah.. blah etc.
Homecoming is a very festive way to dress yourself. This years theme was Breakfast at Tiffany's. (I did not attend the homecoming dance this year, sorry!!!).

here we go again.
Clubs and Events. I decided to write an example of what yearbook writing would look like about Young Life.
Young Life Christian Club
Would you like to try something new?
With a passion for God, the Young life club has been going on for awhile now, in fact, about 2 to 3 years! Pretty exciting, huh? Although the club will be sad to see Mark, my youth pastor, move to Austin. We know he is doing the right thing.
We are honored to still have Stratford Young Life leader Matt. The Young Life club welcomes anyone who wishes to have a fun time after school but also engage in a talk about anything and everything.
We do not force religion on anyone and we are very open. We enjoy meeting new people everyday! The Young Life meets every other Wednesday after school in the Art Room. So go ahead and try it out, there's nothing to be afraid of!

Basically, I looked online for writing in the yearbook and examples etc. It was kind of the same as the WAIS yearbook that I looked at before, just for different things. It was the same style. I learned that a lot of other school's have different clubs etc, and that WAIS is very different therefore, the writing should be different.

writing in the yearbook
A lot of the writing has to do with the clubs and the introductions. It has to be detailed and interesting. I looked through Westchester Miacis from my 6th grade year. Much to my surprise, I never really noticed the details, I guess cause I was a stupid middle schooler (no offense to middle-schoolers). I think that my job will be to write the content, not the captions, just the content and to make it make sense and short so that people will want to read it.

article
I learned how you can use the yearbook in a wrong way, like putting profane quotes in your senior quote and things like that. Also they compared it to older yearbooks saying how we are different. They said, acted, and dressed differently than us, so we have to show who we are, in a clean manner. This will help others 100 years from now.
Much to our surprise, a lot can come out of a yearbook, whether its memories or offensiveness. You have to be careful, if your taking a risk, to know what your saying and why your saying it.

questions
- Why do you think its important to know the other students with similar positions as your own?
So we can work together, and understand each other's roles.
- Define your position.
I am a staff writer who writes the main content.
- How might your position interact with others?
I have to interact with the director of writing because she has to edit/read the content I write.
- What is our primary and secondary market audience for the yearbook?
I think that the high school is primary and the middle school is secondary.
- What service has yearbook offered the school? Is it enough? What else can we do?
It has let students take hold of memories. Yes, we can make it better than ever though.
- List any school activities or clubs you are a part of.
The connection/young life club
- Can you think of, and list, what activities and clubs your friends are involved in?
the connection/young life, MUN
- Can you drive for weekend/evening events? Or are you only available for after school events?
Depends which weekend is which, but yes I can drive to events.

caption rewrite
Here we are in front of McCormick Library. The
annual Talent Show was performed by fellow students
on March 21st, 2010. Kim Williams played her
original song "Heart" onstage, with no mic and
no amplifier. She won with a whopping 450 votes with
Tom Herndon at 2nd place with 340 and Larry Campos in 3rd place
with 150 votes. Much to our surprise Kim is now attending
the Air Force Academy but still enjoys playing music.
Here, Sarah Matthew's is seen here making signs after school on
September 26th, 2009 homecoming game.
She cut out letters to saying "Go Tigers!" which
will align the field entrance. The Tigers proved Sarah's poster
right as they won 42 to 12 against the Warriors!
The Tiger's football team would like to thank all
the clubs for creating signs and banners.
theme again.
Faster Than the Speed of Life
Academics:”On Your Marks”
Athletics:”Setting the Pace”
People & Clubs: “Not a Moment to Lose”
Student Life:”Shifting into a Higher Gear”
Mini-Magazine:”Going the Distance”
World and Community:”In the Blink of an Eye”

I like this one because it has an obvious theme. The titles and catchphrases are obviously having to do with speed. And there is a play on words with the title, which I think is neat.
Yearbooks-
Catalyst: On Yearbook Gallery- La Serna High School
I really like this design and the artwork on front. I'd give it a 8.5. The theme definitely was shown throughout the book, you could see it in the colors. I was impressed by the creativity. Also I really, really, really liked the table of contents. It's pretty.
President's Collection
Caxton
Robert McQueen High School
I thought it was well done, and cute. I give it a 9.35 (yay for random decimals). I was very impressed by the colors and fonts. I think it was very well organized. Also the theme was neat as well as the artwork on the cover.

theme.
Photography theme, Words that go with it.
The dark room
Photographers
Lens
Camera
Tripod
Zoom
Photo strips
Film
I think that arial and things like that go with it.
It is very clean and angular.
They are bright redish but with black font also.
A lot of the pictures and phrases and font are repeated.
Again, the pictures and font is repeated.
Again, the pictures and font. It's the theme.
The pictures and font and everything. The theme is repeated.
The tone will have a happy sense to it, but it won't be all that colorful.
You can make it apply by showing the student life and what we do in the community and our effects on those around us such as winning the reflections contest.
I don't think it will really cover the downs. You get a feel for it on how the WAIS lifestyle is. It might show students working which I guess could be a down.
Definitely include them and make the theme apply to clubs and there photos and etc. Don't exclude there input but also make the theme repetitive so others can still be able to see the theme.

Reflections
Code of Ethics-
A good writer will always use ethics. They will not cheat or lie in there writing pieces and they will respect copyright rules. Plagiarism is always a big problem with almost everything it can bring up many affairs and lawsuits if not treated as a law. The first amendment states that Congress cannot tamper with the freedom of religion, speech, assembly, and the press. We have rights, don't take advantage of them. That is, don't plagiarize someone's work or slander someone. You must know what's right and wrong.
Ethics: Why Yearbook Editors Need to Follow Some Type of Code-
You need to always be careful about what you say. It can really hurt someone, whether its a very embarrassing photo or a rude caption. You need to put yourself in this person's shoe's and think about how they would feel. If you had a bad disease you wouldn't want to have something about it telling the whole world in a yearbook. Bad things can happen when using bad judgement, whether you like the person or not, you always use respect to your classmates and teachers.

Another Yearbook
Deerfield School 2006
Apparently, this yearbook is in 2006 but I totally thought it was from the 90' at first because it is very colorful. But then I realized that the people looked normal. They have very good photos, but I can't really tell what the backgrounds are. Overall they did well, it's good quality.
I thought it was cute that they put every single person's baby picture above there pictures, at least from what I saw. Also, I think this is a middle school or something. I really can't tell.
I like the ideas that they had for interesting pages I think we could use more of the incorporating students and there interests into it.

position
I'm under the staff writer position which is fine with me. It's what I wanted. The only thing is that there are only 2 people underneath it! So I hope we don't have to do all the work. But I am happy with it.
photography
The rule of thirds helps you break the image down intro thirds so that you can look at it closely. A leading line looks like where the person should be more focussed on, it points in the right direction to look. Framing is important because it 'frames' the person's face so that you notice. The frames could be anything from grass, people, or books. It can be anything as long as it is interesting and captures the real feeling. Repetition is very important in photography because you can compare each person/thing to each other.
3 Photos-
The one where the football players and the ref are close together and some are holding hands. I think it really shows the emotion, you can't really tell if there still in the game, or if it's over and they lost or won. You can't tell if one of them got injured. But that's okay, you don't need to know that. You just need to notice the important things.
Guy playing guitar- I really like guitars cause I play it. I think it captures the musical mood. The guy really doesn't look too attractive, in fact, he looks sweaty and tired. But that's how it really is. And I think they captures the lighting and his emotion well. Also has a good angle.
Girls carrying golf clubs- This shows repetition. It makes you notice them and how there alone, but they have each other kind of. I like it when its the back of people, I think it suits them better.

editing
I fail at editing. That's all.
But really, there are so many things I should have known. I didn't know that there were so many mistakes! Hopefully no one in our class makes that many. I missed a lot of everything actually, probably because there's no spell check. I usually am decent about spelling, it's a strength but I do admit that I don't know how to spell certain words. I can approve my editing skills with more exercises.
